Planning can help organize thoughts and prioritize information and includes
- consideration of audience, purpose, and form
- idea generation
- narrowing a topic
This week we started essay writing. We began planning our essay using the 'Pick, List, and Choose' method. We were asked to pick a topic and list everything we know about it. Then, we grouped the information into similar categories, which would eventually be our 3 main ideas.
We then learned how to write an introduction. The lead sentence is meant to grab the reader's attention and inform them on what our essay will be about. The main idea sentence informs our audience what we will be talking about in our essay.
Our next step was to write our 3 main paragraphs.
Our next step is to write our concluding paragraph and type up our work on the computer!
