May 27 - 31

I can incorporate a variety of strategies to comprehend, interpret, and manage information from texts.

Over the last 2 weeks, the grade 6s have been hard at work on a reading comprehension project. Last week, we read 3 articles on the pros and cons of animals in captivity.

We took jot notes on the articles and made lists of pros and cons of zoos and animals in captivity. We then took the evidence we found and formed our own opinion.

This week, we were asked to visit the Biodome website and choose an animal to read about. We took notes on their habitat, life expectancy, diet, and more

Then, we created a visual journal page that answered the following questions:
  • What does the animal notice?
  • What does the animal believe?
  • What might the animal care deeply about?
  • What does the animal wonder?
It was our job to 'step inside' the mind of our chosen animals and write from their perspective. We did such a great job!
