I can respond to texts by summarizing the main ideas.
I can synthesize ideas and information in texts.
This week, students practiced a new method of note-taking called 'Adventure Mapping'. It focused on characters, setting, and main events. We practiced this new skill by watching the short firm Smash and Grab.
We then started our new novel study on the book The Girl Who Drank the Moon. As a class, we brainstormed what we thought were the most important events. Then we illustrated these in our visual journals. Going forward, students will demonstrate their understanding of the texts by identifying the main events independently.
